Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow

Winged Liner For Dummies

Do you suck at applying winged eyeliner? Me too. This is why I'm obsessed with this shadow stick! It's fool proof. Since it's meant to be a "shadow" it's super easy to apply without perfect precision. You can take a liner brush and kind of form it into the winged look. With normal liners they pretty much dry on contact and you're screwed if you mess up. This is a bit more user friendly! It has the smoothest application on the planet & this amazing cooling sensation. Even better - it's longwear - so once it's dried you're good to go! Usually I would put a shadow over this to lock the liner in place - but there is no need with this!

Urban Decay B6 Prep Spray + De-Slick Setting Spray

Get the most out of your makeup

I'm sure a lot of you already know about or own Urban Decay's De-Slick (oil-control), All Nighter (long-lasting), or Chill (cooling & hydrating) Makeup Setting Sprays that you use AFTER you've applied your makeup. I use the De-Slick for my oily skin and my makeup doesn't budge!

Now they have B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray that you use BEFORE you put your makeup on. "This scientifically advanced formula contains the first patented, stabilized form of topical vitamin B6, which absorbs oil, minimizes pores and reduces redness. Spritz it on any time of day to hydrate, prep and soften your skin with vitamins and antioxidants. Use it in the morning to prep and “wake up” your skin, during the day to refresh your skin (without messing up your makeup), or at night before your treatment." And there ya have it! Now who doesn't want all those wonderful things for their skin?!

Makeup finger prints included because - YES - I actually use the products I review!

I Die For Marc Jacobs Beauty

A few of my favorites from this amazing line

The new Marc Jacobs makeup line is insane! I cannot say enough good things about it! The eyeshadows last and last and last! You literally need makeup remover to take them off even though they are in powder form. Same for the eyeliner - they will NOT smudge and go on like a smooth dream boat. The lip gloss is PERFECTION!! I think it may be my absolute new favorite. It is the perfect texture and pigment. I won't ramble on about the line- just try it for yourself because it will be your new best friend. I'm dying to try the rest of it!! This will be a makeup line with some serious staying power. Trust me.

Here are some of my favs!!!
(as you probably know, I'm not the best photog - but by gosh I try)

Small Style Eye-Con No.3 Plush Shadow: The Glam 108

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

The Perfect Foundation

I was introduced to this foundation a couple years ago by a girlfriend who had a makeup artist use this on her in a photo shoot. She said her skin looked the best it had ever looked in pictures. Of course I had to buy it - immediately!! Boy was she right! This stuff is amazing, perfect, incredible, the foundation dreams are made of.....you get the idea.

It covers every little flaw and wrinkle - yet NEVER looks cakey. I have sun spots and weird dark areas from my pregnancy and this makes my skin look perfectly even and literally flawless. I need only the smallest amount of concealer after. It never ever ever breaks me out or makes me look oily - don't let the luminous title scare you!

I always use my beauty blender sponge to apply so I get a light application.

As far as color goes - personally I have olive undertones and use 4.5 in the dead winter, 5.5 if I have used self tanner, or 6.5 in the summer. I keep those 3 bottles in stock and I swear they last forever!

Go ahead and hurry and order here so you can get tons of compliments on your perfect skin. You are soooo welcome - trust me its amazzzzzzzzing.

Wedding Day Hair Products

secrets to lasting style on your big day

Whether you're getting your hair professionally done or doing it yourself - these products are a MUST to use on your wedding day!

No matter what type of hair you have - this is not the day to use silky leave in conditioners and shine products. How can that be you say?! You want TEXTURE and GRIP! You do not want silky or "slippery" hair. I have so many friends that say their hair doesn't hold curl or style, so they don't even attempt it! It's because they are not using the right products! Curl will not hold if you're using a ton of smoothing and shine products - it just won't. If you have frizzy/curly hair I would recommend using these products and taking the extra time on this day to use a big round brush and blow dry it section by section instead of slathering on the smoothing products.

If you are getting your hair professionally done, they usually will not be washing and drying it for you. You will probably show up with it washed and blow dried, and they will take it from there. These are the products you need to use before and after you blow dry so all that money you are paying your stylist is worth it!

I used these EXACT products on my wedding day (I actually use them anytime I go out or take the time to style my hair) and my hair lasted all day and night.

I get all of these products at Target or CVS

1. Shampoo and Condition with Tigi Bed Head Superstar

2. Apply Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen For A Day Thickening Spray to your roots

3. Spray Tigi Bed Head Superstar Volumizing Leave-In Conditioner all over like you normally would a leave in conditioner

4. Rub a teeny tiny pea sized amount of Tigi Bed Head Small Talk into the palms of your hands and apply all over hair

5. Comb through so all products are evenly dispersed

6. Blow dry as usual

7. Spray a light coat of L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray all over hair. Flip head upside down and do a light coat underneath as well. Wait a minute for it to dry, then brush through. (This is my secret to really making sure your curls last - I do this religiously every time I curl my hair)

You may have some big poofy hair at this point - and that's a good thing! The styling tools you or your stylist choose will do all the smoothing and shining you will need! They may even spray some kind of heat protectant spray - and that is totally fine. The grip and texture you have added to your hair with these products will be the reason your hair holds curl and style the entire night.

Remember - don't overdo it with the products! You don't want to weigh your hair down! I never saturate my hair and I'm constantly making sure it's even and not concentrated in certain areas.

Good luck and here's to gorgeous hair on your big day!! XOXO

Skin Series Part 1

Oily, Acne Prone, Aging

This is the first of a few different skin types I want to cover. The first being my skin type! I have battled with oiliness and bouts of acne since - well forever! Now, I have the added joy of having to worry about fine lines and sun damage. Ugh! I FINALLY have my exact skin care routine down to a science.

I rarely ever break out now. I may get one or two pimples every other month or so (and of course only when I have a big event to go to). My oiliness is really not even an issue anymore, and I've actually come to embrace my "glow" now that I'm not a complete oil pit. I'm still working on fading some sun spots, but I think for my age (28) I have very few wrinkles (for how much time I've spent in the sun). Don't get me wrong I definitely have some fine lines here and there - but the products I use really have helped keep them at bay.

I have spent thousands of dollars, gone through countless bottles of crap, tons of useless dermatologist appointments, and now have found the perfect combination of products that keep my skin and I happy!

Here ya go!

Here is my exact routine:

AM:

Step 1: Wash face with Proactiv Plus Skin Smoothing Exfoliator (Yes, I have no shame - I use Proactiv and I LOVE this facewash soooo much. I think it's the main thing that keeps me from breaking out - make sure it's the Plus)

Step 2: Tone with Mario Bedescu Special Cucumber Lotion on a cotton round (this is antibacterial and calming)

FOR STEP 3 ALTERNATE DAYS

Step 3: One day apply a small amount of Proactiv Plus Pore Targeting Treatment all over face. (Seriously - a little goes a long way so just do a couple small pumps. This does not irritate or dry out my skin whatsoever. I have never had any luck with Proactiv in the past - but their new Plus line is amazing - very gentle and I NEVER breakout anymore. I'm beyond thankful to have found this!)

Step 3: The other day I apply a few drops of Skinceuticals Phloretin CF all over my face and neck. I even put it under my eyes. (This stuff is like liquid gold - seriously it costs $185. The great thing is that once it's absorbed it stays on your skin for 72 hours. This is why I don't use it every day. Sometimes I go 2 days without using it. There is no need to use it every day! This is my anti aging weapon - it's basically a super concentrated antioxidant with anti-cancer, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.) Read more here!

Step 4: Depending on whether or not I want a tinted or non tinted moisturizer that day - I either use Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 or Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 40.  Both never break me out and I love the texture of both and how they absorb. Love the slight glow my skin gets from the Aveeno and it gives me just enough coverage for daytime. I use the medium for summer and it matches my skin perfectly. The Josie Maran is nice and light - it absorbs really fast, the Argan oil is so nice and quenching, and it will NOT break you out!

PM:

Step 1: Wash with Proactiv Plus Skin Smoothing Exfoliator.

Step 2: Tone with Mario Bedescu Special Cucumber Lotion on a cotton round.

Step 3: Use a Bliss That's Incredi-Peel wipe all over face. Wait 3 minutes until Step 4. (You can read my post I did on these to get a full description - click here.)

Step 4. Moisturize with Murad Pore & Line Minimizing Hydrator. (I'm so in love with this moisturizer - I will use it forever and ever! It's so light and absorbs so quickly - yet it's super moisturizing. I also use this alone under my makeup if i'm going out for the night. If I'm doing full blown makeup I skip all the other serums and what not and just opt for this moisturizer only.)

Step 5: Apply La Mer The Eye Balm Intense all over eye area. (This is ridiculously expensive and any eye cream you choose will be just fine! I splurged on this a year ago and it never runs out! I must say it is pretty fabulous though.)

Thanks for reading! I know it's a lot of steps, but this regimen truly works. XOXO

The Eyelash Trick

long voluminous lashes without falsies

This is my super easy trick to make your real lashes look long, thick, and curled!

You don't have to have this exact curler or mascara - but it's truly the best curler in all the land. It's sooo worth buying and you can get it in a duo pack with this mascara - although any mascara you prefer will work fine. Tarte makes great mascara so this is worth a try if you're in the market for a new one.

My trick is as simple as this:

Step 1: Apply one super LIGHT coat of mascara to lashes

Step 2: Allow to dry COMPLETELY (finish the rest of your makeup or fix hair - whatever you do just let it dry all the way)

Step 3: Time to curl! I personally get the curler as close to the base of my lashes as possible and hold for about 5 seconds then open and close the curler a few times

(I do one eye at a time so the curl really lasts - so I would do Steps 3 & 4 on one eye and then move to the other eye)

Step 4: Apply mascara as you normally would. I like to do at least 2 good coats. Make sure you start at the base and wiggle up! Then, I like to really concentrate on the tips and make sure they're nice and seperated.

Voilà! You now have gorgeous flirty lashes with a curl that will last and last.

My secret to white teeth

it's as simple as this!

This post is a request from one of my closest friends who noticed how white my teeth have been lately. I was so glad to hear that because sometimes it's hard to tell if your own teeth are white! I'm currently 7 months pregnant - so I haven't been able to professionally bleach my teeth and have even stayed away from my trusty Crest White Strips. I'm not sure that it's bad to use them - I have just chosen the better safe than sorry route! All I have been using is this Arm & Hammer Advance White Extreme Whitening toothpaste and that alone has really done wonders! Randomly, if I can remember, I will add the Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster directly on top of my toothpaste. It's as simple as that!! If I really get a wild hair I will mix a little baking soda & peroxide and brush with that - it's basically the same thing as the toothpaste though. If you're lazy like me with whitening - this is the best fix and it will make your teeth noticeably whiter.

Best Drugstore Hair Products

I keep goin back for more!

I could spend hours roaming the beauty product aisles of Target and CVS. There are sooo many different shampoos, leave-in treatments, and hairsprays galore - how do you pick?! Fortunately for you - I have probably tried them all! These are some of my favorite buys for hair products. I use most of these on a daily basis and buy them over and over again.

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Shampoo/Conditioner - I'm starting with this because it's my FAVORITE! I go through these like crazy! I usually buy the Total Care or Strong Lengths. One of the main reasons I love it so much is because the smell is the best of any shampoo you can buy at the drugstore or anywhere. I get compliments on the way my hair smells ALL the time. That usually never happens to me! It smells kind of like the original Herbal Essences on steroids. I really like the way my hair looks and feels when I use this - so it smells great and your hair looks great. Enough said!!

L'oreal Elnett - This hairspray has a cult following. Used by countless celebs and there's a reason why! It's the BEST hairspray ever created! It goes on with a baby soft mist, holds your style like nobody's business, you can brush right through it with ease, you can layer it and layer it and layer it and it never builds up or looks like you have helmet head....it's just perfection in a can. Buy it.

John Frieda Full Repair Touch-Up Flyaway Tamer - You know those little tiny hairs that stick up all over the place on the top of your head? So annoying right?! I'm so obsessed with this little product. It looks like a tube of clear mascara and you use the wand the smooth down all those little hairs. I keep one in my purse - especially in the summer - and tame those little suckers with ease! Amazing.

Pantene Pro-V Silky Moisture Whip - I love this because it's a leave-in conditioner, styler, and heat protector all in one. If I don't have time to use a million products I like to use this. I love the texture of this product! It comes out like a mousse, but it's much creamier and silky. It's great to use on the days I curl my hair because it helps hold the curl and I know its protecting it from the heat. Great all in one product!

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product - OMG I just love this stuff. It smells insane and I'm a sucker for leave-in conditioners - especially spray ones. I use a leave-in conditioner every time I wash my hair, no matter what. This is hands down my favorite one ever. It's a bit pricey for the drugstore (around $18 for the small bottle) but so worth every penny. Here's the long list (10 of course) of what it does: repairs dry damaged hair, adds shine, smoothes and controls frizz, seals and protects hair color, flat iron spray and thermal protector, detangles, stops hair breakage, creates silkiness, enhances natural body, and prevents split ends. Whoa! And it truly does all of those things! It's a 10 in my book!

Infusium 23 Repair and Renew - I don't always get highlights, but when I do I always use this! I had a hairstylist once tell me to buy this when my hair was looking a little damaged. She said it worked better than any product they had (this salon carried Bumble & Bumble). Yet again - I also love the way this smells. I use to be obsessed with Infusium 23 Shampoo/Conditioner because of the smell, then they changed the scent (ugh!) - but this is still the original smell I use to love so much. It really does make my hair feel shiny and healthy. I use a ton of it though - it comes out like water pretty much - so make sure you buy the spray bottle!

Spring Favsies!

new bath, body, and makeup obsessions

Let's start with my favorite time...BATH TIME! These make me look forward to my bubble bath even more than I already do!

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Honey Bath & Souffle Body Creme: I wish I could send the smell of this through your screen!! It's seriously the most heavenly smell of ANY product I've ever smelled in the history of smells. I would normally never shell out this much for bubble bath & lotion - but after getting a sample of this it was like crack. I was thinking about it day and night - I had to get a fix of this smell again!! It also looks really pretty in my bathroom :) So, if you're in the mood to indulge yourself...I think you should! Picture yourself taking a long, hot bubble bath with this sweet smell all around you...aaaah...now wrap yourself in the most luxurious body cream you can imagine...double aaaah. What are you waiting for?! Go ahead and click here for the body creme or here for the honey bath...then thank me later!!

Hourglass Solar Tan Self Tanning Primer - You read that right! A self tanning primer OMG?! Is this even real?! It exists people! It goes on with the velvety smoothness of a primer - hiding all your pores and wrinkles - then it leaves you with a little surprise - a TAN! Genius I tell you! I could see a little bronze glow the first day I used it - after a few days using it the color got even more bronzier. Just gorgeous! I let it sit for a bit before I put my foundation/bb cream/tinted moisturizer/whatever I chose that day- just to make sure it settled in. I am beyond excited I found this. Yippee! Get it here

Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation - Let me start by saying this foundation is: Paraben Free, Oil Free, Fragrance Free, Nanoparticle Free, Phthalate Free, Synthetic Dye Free, Gluten Free, Vegan, and Water-Resistant. WOW! WOW! WOW! I don't even know what some of those are?! But I'm glad it's free of them! If you're an oily girl like me you will love this! It's formulated for oily and blemish prone skin. It feels so silky and lightweight, it glides into pores, and kept my skin looking great ALL day. This really eliminates the need for touch ups throughout the day. I really like this for daytime or if I don't need heavy coverage. I can foresee this being a summer favorite. Being in the South - it gets super humid and hot! This will be a must for me! I can't say enough great things about the Hourglass line of products. Pop into Sephora for a sample or order here!

Benefit Erase Paste - I hate that I cheated on my Cle de Peau Concealer...but I really love this stuff! Honestly, nothing can compare to my precious Cle de Peau - it simply is the best - but my skin has been a little dry around my eyes lately and sometimes it can look flakey. The Erase Paste is in a pot and has more of a thick foundation consistency. The more liquid texture is great when your skin is a bit dry. I like that it has brighteners in it as well. The concealer is really thick and has great coverage. For night I layer a bit of it over my Cle de Peau - now we're talkin! The only issue I had with this was the color range. The No.1 Fair was super light and the No.2 Medium seemed dark - I bought both so I could mix them as needed. The No.1 is fine for me now (I'm super pale) but warm weather is approaching, so I think mixing will be in my near future. I was torn between their Boi-ing concealer and this - but liked the brightness/texture/consistency of this much better. Click here to order!

Miracle Skin Transformer SPF 20 Face - I'm always on the lookout for an all in one product to wear to work. In the mornings I'm always in a hurry - so the fact that this is a moisturizer, primer, foundation and SPF all in one is a life saver! It's basically another BB Cream...and I'm a HUGE fan of BB Creams. I like that this one mattifies, so I don't need to put any kind of powder over it. I put my morning serum on - then go straight to this. It's that simple! I definitely have to do a bit of concealing afterwards - its a very sheer coverage - but I really like the overall feel. If I don't like the way a product feels on my face or if the consistency isn't right - forget about it - I will never use it again! The reviews on Sephora are also great for this one - that goes a long way for me. Click here to see for yourself and make your mornings a little easier!

Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Candied Coral - It's Spring! Therefore I'm ready for coral lipgloss galore! I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm a sucker for peachy coral glosses! Lancome makes the best textured gloss ever - and I love their wide tipped sponge applicator. This color layered over a pale peach lipstick is just too much gorgeousness to handle!! Get it here

Thanks for checking out my Spring Favsies!!!

Peace, Love, and Lipgloss XOXO

That's Incredi-‘Peel’! Spa-Strength Glycolic Resurfacing Pads

Need a miracle??

I'm hooked on another product! Who would have thunk it?! I was on the search for an at home Glycolic peel and came across this on the Sephora website. As always - I read through every page of reviews. They all gave "glowing" reports...literally! I had to try for myself!

Why Glycolic???  If you have a skin problem Glycolic solves it!
reduces fine lines and wrinkles
lightens dark spots and acne marks
helps clear and prevent acne
sloughs dead skin to help with dryness
at the same time helps combat oiliness
reduces rosacea
shrinks pores

How it works:
This naturally occurring alpha-hydroxy acid (made from sugarcane) helps to slough off the top layer of dead skin cells. This promotes new cell turnover - resulting in a glowing, smooth, youthful complexion.

My thoughts:
I'm in love!!! I want to use this every night for the rest of my life! My skin was soooo much clearer after one week. After two weeks my dark spots from the sun and past blemishes were noticeably fading. Now on week three my face is staying clear and my overall complexion is just...BETTER! The pads are quite large and have a lot of product on them so I use them on my chest as well - I can tell it's lightening some of the freckles I get there in the summer and who wants a wrinkly chest- eww! Prevention people!

Now let me warn you...this stuff burns and tingles like nobody's business! You have to wait 3 minutes after application until the sweet relief of moisturizer...and trust me it's the slowest 3 minutes of my life! You can do it though - it's worth it for that glowing skin!!!

Favorite Eye Creams

Eye See Those Peepers

Here are my top 3 favorite eye creams. They are all fabulous and here's why!!

What I'm currently using:

La Mer The Eye Balm Intense: Yes, its a splurge - but I bought it last July and I swear I've barely made a dent! I do not use sparingly either - I slather this stuff all around my eye. I love the cooling feeling of the metal ball tipped applicator. It's always ice cold and feels so refreshing. The balm itself is so rich and heavenly. I have very sensitive eyes and this never burns or stings. I truly feel like the little wrinkles from sun damage are immediately plumped and hydrated. You know how your concealer can crease under your eyes? Since I've been using this those creases are few and far between. I will for sure be buying this again...if it ever runs out! Find it here

(Tip: I bought this at a Duty Free shop in the Munich Airport - if you happen to spot one in an airport @ least it's tax free)

La Roche-Posay Active C Eye Cream: There are TONS of Vitamin C eye creams out there, but this one is hands down my absolute favorite. For starters this is a stabilized Vitamin C cream. The packaging allows it to remain stable until you finish the product. It goes through several layers until it reaches the tip where it comes out. SOOO many Vitamin C products out there are packaged incorrectly allowing air and light to get it. Once the Vitamin C is unstable it is completely useless and allows for free radical damage. This is proven to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles and pigmentation. I'm a huge fan of La Roche products and this is one of my favorite products they make. You will not be disappointed! Find it here.
Clinique All About Eyes: A tried and true! This was the first eye cream (it's actaully more of a gel)  I ever purchased. Since then I have bought it countless times. It feels so silky and amazing. If your main issue is puffiness - this will be your new best friend! It calms and soothes the puffiness like nobody's business! Keep it in the fridge and it feels even better. Aaahh I want to go slather some on right now! I think keeping the skin around your eyes hydrated (whether you have wrinkles or puffiness) is what really keeps your eyes looking fresh and youthful. If you've never even tried an eye cream this would be an amazing starting point and I guarantee it won't be the first time you buy this! Find it here.

Favorite Self-Tanners

These are my #1 picks for self tanning perfection

I've tried every self tanner that's probably ever been made! I've had some Oompa Loompa moments, zebra stripes, and awful rashes! These are the ones that I have found give me the perfect bronze tan without any irritation.

St. Tropez - I use this one the most. The mitt makes for easy application and the color looks like you just left a tropical island. No orange tint ever with this one! You will be addicted! Order here

Tan Towel - Another great pick! It's fast, no mess, portable, and fool proof! Even if you are horrible at putting self tanner on this will never streak. I always go with the lighter color because the dark shade can turn a bit orange and looks fake to me. I can use these on my face with no breakouts. Order here

Sun Laboratories - I love this because it smells soooo good. The scent is kind of a cherry almond. I like that it's formulated with natural ingredients like Jojoba Seed Oil, Vitamin E, and Safflower Seed Oil. I can also use this on my face without any irritation. I have the Instant Tint which goes on crazy dark (so you can see where you put it) but washes off to a pretty bronze color. Order here

Kate Somerville Somer 360 - I like this just as well as the Tan Towel. It's very natural looking, so if you're going for a deep bronze - this is not it. If you have fair skin this would be a great pick! These also have easy application and great results! Order here

What's in my makeup bag

Here's what I haul around in my purse

I keep this little makeup bag in my purse for quick touch ups! I usually switch lip colors out depending on what I'm wearing at the time. This is what I've been toting around lately!

Sephora blotting papers
BareMinerals Mineral Veil compact
Tarte Amazonian clay concealer
NARS Orgasm blush mini
NARS Orgasm The Multiple stick
MAC Coffee eyeliner
Mac Subculture lipliner
MAC Pink Lemonade Lipglass
MAC Sandy B lipstick
Sephora lipgloss #13 Miami Pink
Crown Brush angled blush brush (I use it for the powder & blush)

These are all nice staples to keep in your purse just in case!

Oz The Great & Powerful Palette Review

 They have arrived!!!

Yay!! They finally came! I am following up to my post about ordering the Oz palettes. They are here in all their glory, and I'm so excited to share the gorgeousness with you!

I'll start with the Glinda palette because I think it's my favorite! Wow! It is so much prettier in real life. Very girlie with its purples, pinks, and golds. The colors are so pigmented and are absolutely stunning. The eyeliner is the prettiest deep plum and the lipstick pencil would be perfect for everyday use.

Here's a close up of Glinda

The Theodora palette has so many pretty browns, golds, olives - it's a great palette for every day use or to jazz it up a bit at night. I think it would be the most wearable of the two. It comes with a basic dark black eyeliner and a red lipstick pencil. Those are always nice to have handy!

Urban Decay - A Bewitching Collection

 I'm crazy for Oz!!!

Urban Decay has created two gorgeous limited-edition palettes inspired by the Disney movie “Oz the Great and Powerful." I just got an email for early ordering of these sets. How did Sephora know I just happen to be OBSESSED with anything Wizard of Oz?! Of course...I had to order both. How could I choose?! Both sets come with 8 unique eyeshadows, an eyeliner, and a high-shine lip color. The Theodora has the gorgeous smokey browns, golds, and olives that I die for!! The Glinda has silvery blues, purply pinks and golds...it's just too much to handle! I believe they are already available on the Urban Decay website - I just like to rack up my Beauty Insider points with Sephora. Full review with pics & swatches to come!!
