December Shadow Favorites!

Dazzling Holiday Eyes

THEGLOSSGUIDE.COM

Every month I seem to go through a phase where I wear the same shadows over and over! This month the winners are....

MAC Texture
MAC Mythology
True Colors 8 stack in Neutral

I've been starting out pretty much every look with Texture as the matte foundation of my crease (it has a tiny tiny bit of sparkle but is matte for the most part). From there I like the layer the others and just play around with whatever look I'm going for. Mythology is soooo unbelievably gorgeous- a shimmery golden bronze with almost a touch of pink. For holiday parties this is a winner! The True Colors are great to layer over anything, and since I prefer a bronze eye- the possibilities are endless with these! They do get a bit messy though- wish they were in individual containers.

Dior Skinflash Primer

Radiance Boosting Makeup Primer

Sheer Glow 001 - sheer light peachy pink

This is some super fancy primer! Of course Dior has gorgeous presentation in all of their products, but this is also a fabulous primer! I tend to use it more on the parts of my face I would use a highlighter on - underneath my foundation. It gives you a gorgeous glow that's not too sparkly or shiny looking. I love the tube it comes in and super soft applicator brush. This is also great for those days you don't want to wear foundation, but still want a teeny bit of something to fill in those pores and lines just a tad. It's very sheer, but I love that it has a little bit of tint. Try it on the tops of your cheekbones, down the center of your nose, and a teeny bit in the center of your forehead - or all over if you prefer! Happy Priming!

Pamper Yourself!

Peels, Masks, and Pumpkins - Oh My!

These are my all time favorite face treatments to use at home. On those days where I just need to pamper myself - these do just the trick! And trust me....I've tried many a mask!!

Boscia Luminizing Black Mask- If your skin is feeling a bit congested - this is just the ticket! It feels almost like glue when you apply it, not to mention it truly is black! You may look a bit scary! Once it dries you peel it off, along with dirt, oil, dead skin, and grossness. Aaaah now your skin can breathe! You're Welcome!

Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Masque- Want that celebrity Oxygen Facial you've been hearing so much about?? Can't quite afford it or find a spa in your area that offers it? Here is your answer! I love that this is a foaming mask. You truly feel like it is "oxygenating" while it foams and bubbles. This is great for special occasions when you need a quick fix for luminous, healthy looking skin. The benefits of this go on and on....it fights wrinkles, dehydration, congestion, dull complexion, and uneven skin tone - WOW! (no longer available @ Sephora- I order off dermstore.com)

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel -  This smells SOOOOO good! I want to eat it....seriously! It smells like pumpkin pie heaven. This detoxifying peel dissolves all those dead skin cells we have lurking around and promotes cell turnover. Also included are anti-oxidants and Vitamin A. This leaves my skin soft, smooth, and clear. I can't say enough good things about this - my favorite at home peel. 2 big thumbs up! (no longer available @ Sephora- I order off dermstore.com)

SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque- When my skin is feeling super oily and broken out, nothing works like this! It really gets all the gunk out of your pores. You can see a huge difference after using it! Blackheads are banished and my skin looks flawless. This is definitely my go to mask that I use the most.

Favorite Exfoliators

Arcona Cranberry Gommage &

 Kate Somerville ExfoliKate

Green is ExfoliKate, Purple is Arcona

I am a HUGE fan of exfoliating. If you're not....then you need to be! Who wants those icky dead skin cells hanging around?! Not me! Buff away wrinkles, blemishes, and discoloration with these awesome products. I honestly love both of them so much. They both smell great and are about the same consistency. They are finely milled, and wont scratch or damage your skin.

The ExfoliKate is a bit pricey ($85) so I like to use it sparingly - maybe once a week or every other week. It contains fruit enzymes to clarify your skin and I swear you can feel them working! It tingles a little - which I love! Anything that tingles makes me feel like it's working better ;) You leave this on for about 30 seconds after applying - thats when it really does its magic! This is by far my ABSOLUTE  favorite exfoliator ever in the history of exfoliators. I truly do feel like my skin glows after using this.

I use the Arcona Cranberry Gommage a couple times a week. It's about half the price of ExfoliKate at $42, so I use this a bit more often. It feels amazing and I really love the cranberry smell. More importantly...my skin feels great and products and makeup go on smoothly after!

Kate Somerville 360 Face

Let's get glowing!!!

Oh winter, I hate how pale you make me! Luckily these little gems have been helping ease the pain of saying goodbye to my sun kissed face (sun kissed with SPF 50 that is). I'm a huge fan of anything in a towel or wipe form. #1 they are easy to apply #2 they are 0 mess #3 they are goof proof and #4 they travel well. Naturally, when I found out someone had finally made a wipe for the face I had to try them immediately.

I love her 360 for the body, but they, along with Tan Towel brand always make my face super dry. Kate Somerville is SO smart she added her amazing Peptide K8 Complex (which I have used and loved) as well as anti aging ingredients. What could be better? Moisturizer plus wrinkle reducers! I love that it gives me a subtle bronze color that naturally transitions me into the winter, and look how perfect the packaging is?! The formula is concentrated in the middle so your fingers don't get product on them- genius! They are a bit pricey $48 for 8. I only use them once a week so the box lasts for 2 months. Not bad!

Yours Truly

Makeup Appreciation!

Boy does it feel to good to have your makeup efforts appreciated! This is the most excited I've been about being in a publication, simply because someone took the time to notice the little details that usually go unnoticed. A big shout out to the sweet girl that wrote this article!! Angelisa Farmer thanks for making my day!

Peace, Love, and Lipgloss

Favorite Foundations

I love these foundations!!!

1. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream (I use this for daily wear to work since it's light with an SPF)

2. Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Foundation (this is one of my favorites - another daily foundation, really does what it says, packed with vitamins, anti aging ingredients, SPF)

3. Girogo Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (love this for night, skin looks flawless)

4. Urban Decay NAKED SKIN Weightless Ultra Definition (great for summer, gives you a gorgeous glow, love that its not heavy)

5. Make Up For Ever HD (used this for my wedding, lasts for hours, skin looks picture perfect)

6. Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick (can use this daily or for special events, great coverage, love that it's in a stick form)

Amika 4P Interchangeable Barrel Curler Set

I finally bit the bullet and bought this baby! It just arrived and I couldn't be more thrilled. I debated for so long on wether or not to buy the Sultra The Bombshell iron. My issue was that it only came in a 1" and I wanted something a bit larger. THEN...the heavens aligned and I found the Amika, which has 4 sizes of interchangeable barrels!!! The largest barrel is 1.25" (wish it would have gone up to 1.5") and it heats all the way up to 430 degrees. The curls are gorgeous, smooth, celebrity-esque, and everything I dreamed of from a clip free iron. The barrels are super easy to change out- fool proof. The price was only a $45 difference compared to The Bombshell and in my opinion way more product!

I'm Blushing

Favorite Blushes!

Lancome Blush Subtil in Rose Romantique (for special occasions or photography, color looks picture perfect)

Dior 'Rosy Glow - Petal' Awakening Blush (great for daily/ work makeup, subtle natural pink)

Nars Blush in Torrid (looks beautiful with bronzey makeup)

MAC Powder Blush in Sunbasque (for those days I'm feeling a bit pale)

MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty (such a beautiful, barely there light pink)

MAC Powder Blush in Style (have used this for 10+ years,  makes cheek bones pop and gives you a gorgeous glow)

Bobbi Brown Pale Pink (you can tell how long I've had this- it's the old container! It never ends! the perfect matte pink, looks natural even though its super bright in container)

Benefit Blush in Coralista (so gorgeous for many skin tones, I love blushes with peachy tones)

Polish of the Moment

Nicole by OPI in Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi

It's a true cherry red and I can't stop wearing it! There's something about this gorgeous, glossy red that makes me happy when I wear it. Enough said!

Ben Nye Banana Powder

I love this setting powder for so many reasons! Don't let the crazy yellow deceive you! It brightens your face and looks amazing in pictures. It is loved by many celebs, which is the main reason I had to try it, and now I see why! It doesn't settle into fine lines, absorbs any shine, and makeup is set for hours. It looks great on a wide variety of skin tones. I have a more olive skin tone, but it is widely used by African American and Asian women. I think it could work on anyone!  My one and only issue with it is that I make a huge mess because the lid is so tiny. It needs a bigger lid so you can tap and swirl. I usually transfer a bit into my empty Laura Mercier setting powder container. Still a great product none the less!

November Lips

This is the combo I've been wearing for the last few weeks. It looks SO beautiful on! I've used this on 3 different people with very different skin tones and it was a perfect match every time. The most gorgeous peachy-pink!

1. Line lips with MAC Subculture

2. Apply MAC Innocence all over

3. Dab MAC Hue in center of bottom lip and cupid's bow

4. Apply Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Flash in 464 all over

Below are swatches
